Ages 16 to 18 Years Old

Applicant interviews will take place as applications are submitted.  We have room for up to 10 participants and spaces fill up quickly.

This training is for young women ages 16 (minimum age) to 19.  Dozens of young women have done the training in preparation for careers in helping professions, as well as for personal growth.

Participants complete over 20 hours of training on the following:  group dynamics, managing challenging behaviours, group theory, enhanced communication skills (reflective listening, guiding discussion, giving and receiving feedback, etc), conflict resolution, session planning, self-care, professional ethics (confidentiality, boundaries, managing disclosures/duty to report, etc).

Participants who have completed the training have the opportunity to co-facilitate with an adult facilitator, after school Girls Groups for younger girls.  Peer Facilitators receive a small honorarium as well.

This training is funded by the Central and Northern Vancouver Island United Way.
